The Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the Espoo City Board will decide on reserving the land at its meeting on 20 January. After the reservation has been confirmed, Espoon Reserviläiset ry intends to establish their own shooting range association which will plan the shooting range project.

Espoon Reserviläiset ry have previously applied for a planning reservation for a different area in Kulmakorpi for the planning of the shooting range. However, this area was not suitable for the project. Based on discussions between the City of Espoo and Espoon Reserviläiset ry, a new area for the project was found in Kulmakorpi.

There is no local detailed plan in the area, which is marked as a special area in the local master plan. The special area is intended for soil extraction, community management, sports activities such as shooting and motor sports, as well as recreation and solar energy production. The area of approximately 24.9 hectares is currently in use as a temporary off-road practice area for motor vehicles. Finnish Jeep Driver's Club Ry and Espoon Moottoriradat Ry have been granted a land use permit until the end of 2026.
