Residents’ event for Vermonpolku plan focused on discussions about plan content and area development
On 20 November 2024, a residents’ event concerning an amendment to the detailed plan of Vermonpolku was held at the Leppävaara Life and Living Centre. A small group of residents interested in the Vermonpolku plans attended the event. Discussions with them were good and covered both the plan content and the development of the area.
This amendment to the Vermonpolku detailed plan aims to replace the existing buildings on the plot with new residential buildings. The event was chaired by Julia Lindholm, a member of the City Planning Committee. The content and goals of the amendment to the detailed plan were presented by Kati Kivelä, who is responsible for the preparation of the plan, Traffic Planner Ida Lehmus and Landscape Architect Ina Westerlund from the City Planning Department. Development Architect Jaana Hellinen from Espoon Asunnot was also present.
Kati Kivelä, who leads the preparation of the plan, told about the atmosphere at the event in an interview.
What aspects of the Vermonpolku interested the residents the most?
The audience were interested in how the opinions they had submitted at the preparation stage had been taken into account in the planning. The discussions held with residents at the event also touched on construction at plot edges, especially in terms of stormwater management.
What was the atmosphere at the event like?
The event progressed smoothly, emphasising conversation.
How is the planning area connected to the general development of the Leppävaara area?
Like all residential areas in Espoo, Leppävaara’s built environment is gradually becoming more densely built. It is important to organise meetings where changes and the development of the city can be discussed together.

Review the Vermonpolku materials and the detailed plan materials
The proposal for the amendment to the Vermonpolku detailed plan is available on the plan website from 4 November 2024 to 3 December 2024. During the period of public review, you can submit an objection concerning the plan. Instructions for submitting an objection can be found on the website. Next, the plan will go to the City Planning Committee for processing. Announcements on the progress of the planning work will be provided through the plan project website and the City of Espoo town plan announcements.
