Purchases for Santa Claus
Christmas is fast approaching and homes, schools, offices and cities alike are getting ready for it. For the City of Espoo Procurement Centre, the approach of Christmas means completing the last purchases of the year. At the same time, we realise that Espoo as a city is not very prepared for the arrival of Santa Claus – at least not yet.
In a year’s time, it will be easier Santa Claus to come to Espoo as the city is inviting tenders for more purchases in early 2025 that will be useful for Santa Claus in different situations. The tendering process early in the year will ensure that contracts are in place in time for the much anticipated visit of Santa Claus.
Let us start with one of the most important issues – occupational safety. Santa Claus has a very demanding job, quite an uncommon vehicle and sometimes challenging assignments, but the City of Espoo offers help in the form of the procurement of training in occupational safety and professional skills development. It is certainly a good idea for the elves to pause every now and then to reflect on their own professionalism, as they have a very responsible job to do in keeping an eye on who has been good and who hasn't.
Santa's sleigh may require maintenance during its long journey, and the repair and maintenance services put out to tender by the City of Espoo can help. And Santa will not have to worry about the possible temporary loss of his sleigh, as the city will have a vehicle tracking and reporting service in place by the end of 2025.
At the City of Espoo, we do not forget Santa's reindeer either! If Rudolph gets lost or excited enough about Espoo to go exploring it on his own, the city has temporary care arrangements for lost animals in cooperation with neighbouring municipalities.
