The Espoo Public Works Department’s project to improve Mankkaanlaaksontie has been completed six months ahead of schedule. The total cost of the project, EUR 11.7 million, was almost a million euros below the cost estimate.

The project kicked off in August 2023 and involved raising Mankkaanlaaksontie above the flood limit. In addition to the road, a new wide cycling and pedestrian path was built over a stretch of more than one kilometre between Ring II and Koivu-Mankkaan tie. A noise barrier was also built, and the first phase of the planned Gräsanoja stream cleaning was carried out to address the flooding problem. The Seiliniitty street and its water supply and sewer systems were renovated, and a flood barrier was built around a low-lying residential block near the street.

The main contractor was GRK Suomi Oy and the principal designer was Sitowise Oy.
