The Espoo info space at Lippulaiva will become a silent space of the library
During December and January, the Espoo Info space in Espoonlahti will become a silent space for the Lippulaiva library. Espoonlahti Espoo-info's future services will be developed together with Lippulaiva library.
The silent space opens first with temporary furnishings and decor. The planning will proceed in 2025 together with the residents. According to the preliminary schedule, the renovation and furnishings of the space will be completed in the autumn of 2025.
The advisory and digital support services of Espoo info will be more mobile in the future and you will often find them in the library lobby. A soundproof conference cube for use by Espoo info's advisory service and customers is also planned for the silent space. Espoo-info's current computer workstations will remain in the library's silent space, in addition to which the library has computers in the lobby and laptops that can be borrowed and used in the library's premises.
The Lippulaiva library, which opened in March 2022, has become a popular place for residents, especially families and students, to spend time. The library has far exceeded its target number of customers. With the increasing number of users, silent space has been one of the most common resident wishes for the library.
At the same time, the City Board has set the goal of more mobile Espoo-info services and working closely with libraries. The economically sustainable Espoo programme also promotes the joint use of the city's facilities and the improvement of occupancy rates. The space change and Espoo-info's more mobile operations respond to both objectives and develop services in a resident-oriented manner.
