Iso Omena Library’s renovations 2024
The planned renovations to the Iso Omena Library's makerspace and the children's and youth sections will be done in November-December 2024. Planning started in spring 2024 and customers were involved through various workshops and surveys. Below you will find a schedule of the renovations. The schedule is subject to change and will be kept updated on this page.
The renovations will temporarily reduce our services
The VOX space, the children's gaming area and the children's play area are temporarily out of use. The locations of the materials will change small sections at a time.
Attention! The renovations will continue after week 51. Most of the changes mentioned in the schedule have been completed. Some of the materials will be moved to their final locations in the coming weeks. The children's play area still needs finalizing. The children's gaming area is not yet in use, but gaming is possible in the VOX-space. We thank customers for patience.
Week schedule:
Week 46 (11.–17.11.)
- Preparing the picture book area for painting work
- Dismantling of tall shelves in the picture book area (potential noise disturbance)
Week 47 (18.–24.11.)
- The picture book area will be prepared for the installation of the new carpet, all furniture in the area will be moved
- Children's play area to be closed
- Some walls in the children's area and the makerspace will be painted
- The gaming area in the children's section will be closed due to electrical work
- Rearranging materials begins
Week 48 (25.11.–1.12.)
- The VOX space closed for painting and carpet installation
- Carpet installation in the picture book area begins
- Rearranging materials continues
- Thu-Fri 28.-29.11. occasional noise disturbances caused by drilling
Week 49 (2.–8.12.)
- The VOX space closed for painting and carpet installation
- Carpet installation in the picture book area continues
- Rearranging materials continues
Week 50 (9.–15.12.)
- Opening and furnishing and decorating the VOX-space
- Carpet installation in the picture book area finishes
- Rearranging materials continues
- The children’s section’s gaming area opens
Week 51 (16.12.–22.12.)
- Finishing of the picture book area and opening children’s play area
- Rearranging materials finishes
