Interim report of the 2024 budget and strategy of the Cultural Committee
The Committee entered the interim report II for information as it was on 31 July 2024.
Policies and objectives of the Espoo strategy for 2025, budget proposal and financial plan for 2026–2027
The Cultural Committee submitted a proposal for the 2025 budget and the 2026–2027 financial plan for the preparation of the mayor’s budget proposal.
Financial planning for 2025–2027 is now taking place in a situation where the wellbeing services county reform has substantially changed our funding base and the outlook is unstable.
Future work 2035 of Tapiola Sinfonietta
Tapiola Sinfonietta has carried out future-oriented work in 2023–24, which is based on the Espoo Story, the CultureEspoo 2030 programme and the analysis of the operating environment. The main objectives that the work set are a deeper customer relationship and an exceptional core product through which an effort was made to strengthen the position and customer base of the orchestra. Sinfonietta’s goal is to be a pioneer in the orchestra world.
Impact of the increase in the general VAT rate on the prices of services of the City of Espoo’s cultural unit
The Cultural Committee approved the prices of the services and goods of the cultural unit from 1 October 2024, when their tax rate will increase.
Cultural project and art grants for 2024, decision item on 17 September 2024
The Cultural Committee decided to grant a total of EUR 40,200 in project grants. Grants were awarded, among others, to Glims Gloms ry for a pop-up theatre touring shopping centres in Espoo, composer Timo-Juhani Kyllönen for organising a 70th anniversary concert, and Taito EteläSuomi ry for launching basic art education in Espoo.
The Committee decided to grant a total of EUR 12,919.38 in short-term art grants.
City of Espoo appropriation for Gallen-Kallela Museum’s renovation project for 2024
The Committee decided to support the restoration of the Gallen-Kallela Museum with EUR 70,000 in 2024. The renovations are part of a longer-term maintenance plan, the goal of which is the continued operation of the museum. Tarvaspää’s studio villa, which is the venue for the Gallen-Kallela Museum, is protected by the Act on the Protection of Buildings and it is also a cultural environment of national significance.
