Seven performing arts groups competed for the annual ITU Award

On Wednesday 4.9.2024, the stage of the children's theatre Itu was held at the Turku Children's Cultural Centre.

Seven performing arts groups took part in the stage, selected from forty applications. The jury chose Teatteri Tuomikko's work Wonders and Ghosts as the Itu of the Year 2025, and Company Portmanteau's LAUNDRY - 'Lost in Laundryland' was chosen as the little Itu.  

What is ITU?

ITU is an idea incubator for children's theatre, the purpose of which is to support creators in the field in creating new high-quality works for children and young people. A five-person professional jury will select the most interesting work, which will receive a production subsidy of EUR 8,000 for the production of the performance, as well as an order for a total of at least ten performances at children's cultural centres.  Pikku-itu will also be chosen on stage, receiving 3,000 euros in production support and at least four performances at children's cultural centres.

The ITU stage is organised annually by Lahti Children's Cultural Centre Efekti, Annantalo in Helsinki, Pessi Children's Cultural Centre in Vantaa, Adventure Park in Turku Children's Cultural Centre, Aurora Children's Cultural Centre in Espoo and Rulla Children's Cultural Centre in Tampere.
