Shoreline sounds – Afrobeat, hip hop, R&B and baile funk in Kivenlahti
This summer, the Kivenlahti beach located by the Rantaraitti waterfront walkway will act as the stage for three DJ gigs. The beach is located in a naturally beautiful environment, which is the perfect setting for relaxing and enjoying the summer.
“We wanted to organise gigs with an easy-going and relaxed beach vibe and the DJ performers were chosen accordingly. The beach will be filled with sounds of Afrobeat, hip hop, R&B and baile funk,” says Riikka Kampara, Senior Producer in the Espoonlahti Cultural Project.
DJ duo FWU will kick off the Kivenlahti Summer Sessions on 15 June. Consisting of DJs SHY GRL and twenpettie, FWU is a DJ duo that has charmed audiences at Flow Festival and Helsinki Pride, among other events. Known for their bold remixes and love of rap, the duo’s selections include familiar club hits from recent decades, sleek new releases, and trendy Afropop and baile funk.
DJ Renaz, i.e. Renaz Ebrahim, will take the stage on 29 June. Renaz’s sets focus on hip hop and R&B, with Afrobeats and amapiano sounds as perfect complements. She seamlessly blends classic tracks with the latest hits.
Known as a DJ at Tavastia’s Saturday Disco and a relentless crowd-pleaser, DJ Harvest will perform the third gig of the summer. The former skateboarder’s favourites include golden age hip hop and buzzing indie rock.

Family Midsummer
Celebrate Midsummer at Kivenlahti Beach with a relaxed picnic and fun activities for the whole family on Friday 21 June. Music will be provided by troubadour Anton Mellanen, and the sauna container will be open for a post-swim relaxation.
“Midsummer at Kivenlahti Beach is definitely the highlight of the Espoonlahti summer programme. We will build a comfortable picnic area and organise multiple food stalls on the beach. The little ones can enjoy a hobby horse track and pet alpacas. There will also be a tarot card reader to divine the future,” says Kampara.
Spend a fun summer day with the youngest members of the family at the Soukka Residents’ Park on Thursday 13 June, when the Children’s Cultural Centre Aurora organises shows and activities also elsewhere in Espoo. These include a circus performance and workshop. The mobile library Välkky will also be there.
