The Senioripaku Välkky bus tours Espoo from 21 May 2024 until the end of August.

Espoo’s Senioripaku Välkky will be touring again this summer, bringing enjoyment to seniors in Espoo. The season starts on 21 May 2024 at the Suvela residents’ park and continues until the end of August.

Senioripaku offers seniors a wide range of free activities, such as guided exercise, dance sessions, art and cultural experiences, and service counselling. This summer, the traditional Senioripaku van has been replaced by Espoo City Library’s activity bus Välkky, which will also provide library services.

Espoo City Library has many services that make it easier for elderly people and those with restricted mobility to use library services. Such services include home delivery and the flexi customer model. By visiting Senioripaku Välkky, you can learn more about these services, find something to read, and take part in other activities. You may also get a chance to meet Pyry, the robot seal, and play a fun book-themed game available at some stops.

The Senioripaku activities are organised by the City of Espoo’s sports and cultural services, Espoo Adult Education Centre Omnia, Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County, organisations and volunteers. Thanks to multiprofessional cooperation, the activities are diverse and take into account the wishes and needs of older people.

“Senioripaku combines exercise and culture in a wonderful way. It encourages seniors to get moving and enjoy culture. Meeting other people improves your mood,” says Senior Specialist Elina Pulli from the City of Espoo’s Cultural Services.

“Exercise and culture are clearly beneficial for health and functional capacity and have no age limit. Senioripaku offers low-threshold activities that are also suitable for the more timid individuals. The various organisers also offer seniors a wealth of information and tips related to wellbeing,” says Sports Planner Esa Yletyinen from Espoo’s Sports and Exercise Services.

Senioripaku activities have been organised in Espoo since 2022. The aim of Senioripaku is to provide seniors with easy access to enjoyable activities. In 2023, nearly 1,000 seniors and their loved ones visited the Senioripaku stops.
