In June, the promotion of human rights and equality is celebrated at many events all over the city.

The City of Espoo continues its cooperation to promote equality, non-discrimination and diversity as one of Helsinki Pride’s Working with Pride partners. Helsinki Pride(external link, opens in a new window) is the most influential cultural and human rights event in Finland, and this year’s theme is ‘Peace and Hope’. The Pride month will culminate in Helsinki Pride Week taking place 24–30 June.

For residents, Espoo’s Working with Pride partnership is particularly visible through events in different parts of the city. Celebrating all colours of the rainbow, Pride events will be held at Espoo’s libraries, cultural venues and museums and as part of employer services. You can, for example, get ready for the Pride Parade to be held in Helsinki on 29 June by painting banners at Lippulaiva Library in Espoonlahti or by upcycling clothes at Talent Hub in Otaniemi.

The aim of our Working with Pride work is to ensure a workplace culture that values diversity. We also offer training to our staff to increase their awareness of themes related to equality and diversity.

Our Working with Pride partnership started in April and will continue until the end of the year.
