We are flying our flags at half-mast to honour the victims of yesterday’s school shooting in Vantaa. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and loved ones.

One pupil died and two were seriously injured in a school shooting at Viertolan koulu in Vantaa yesterday.

Mari Rantanen, Minister of the Interior, has expressed a wish that the entire country should fly flags at half-mast today. Flags will be flying at half-mast until sunset.

The school shooting has shocked everyone in Finland. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has published material to help discuss and cope with the situation(external link, opens in a new window).
