Early childhood education places starting in August will generally be decided in May or June.

The guardian will be informed of the decision electronically through eVaka, the early childhood education service(external link, opens in a new window). If you have activated the Suomi.fi service, you will also be informed of the decision there. If you are not using the Suomi.fi service, the decision will be sent by post.

You can read more about the grounds for decisions here. Please note that early childhood education must be applied for at least four months before the desired start date. In urgent cases, such as starting work or studies, a place may be granted more quickly. Read more about the application periods here.

When you have received the decision, you have two weeks to accept the place. After accepting the place, you can apply for a place in another day-care centre by submitting a new application, if desired.
