WeeGee Reads brings literature back to Exhibiton Centre WeeGee

3.2.2024 10.36Updated: 3.2.2024 13.18

The new event concept WeeGee Reads brings literary content to WeeGee Exhibition Centre. The first events are organized in collaboration with the publishing company Teos. The first guest author is Katja Raunio, interviewed by Saara Tamminen. The evening also includes a silent book club section.

The first WeeGee Reads evening is themed "Stories from the Hierarchy." The theme will be explored through author interviews, reading, and discussions. The inspiration for the theme comes from Katja Raunio's book "Viime ajat," which depicts the everyday life of a indebted customer service representative. Katja will be interviewed by Saara Tamminen, a Master of Arts focusing on themes of modern scarcity. The evening is divided into three parts: author interview, silent book club, and a discussion among participants. The event is organized by the WeeGee Exhibition Centre in collaboration with the publisher Teos. Teos published Katja Raunio's latest book, "Viime ajat," in 2023. What is a silent book club?
The silent book club is an event concept for book lovers who want to read in peace but still together. The concept is simple: gather, open a book, and immerse yourself in it for an agreed-upon time. WeeGee Reads events revolve around a loose theme, and we encourage participants to bring a book that fits the theme. This is entirely voluntary; you can read whatever you want. After reading, there will be a discussion about what has been read.

We will compile book recommendations that fit the theme, which you will find on the WeeGee Exhibition Centre's and Teos's social media channels.

Welcome!
