Children’s Museum Festival transforms Tapiola Museums into a weekend-long Pyjama Party on 16 and 17 March 2024!

13.2.2024 13.38

Young museum visitors’ favourite weekend is here again! The Children’s Museum Festival is celebrated in EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, KAMU Espoo City Museum, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, and in the Leikki and Kruunu museums just a stone’s throw away! Celebrating the theme of Pyjama Party, the festival fills the museums with creative activities and fun programme throughout the weekend.

How about exploring dream worlds in a museum – in your pyjamas? You don’t have to wait for it any longer! The Children’s Museum Festival(external link, opens in a new window) on 16 and 17 March has loads of activities that are inspired by the idea of a pyjama party activities and imaginary worlds: workshops, performances, music and other fun stuff in which art, architecture and history play an important role. Activities for the entire family include AnnanHouse disco, Chevalier hobby horse circus and scenes from Unikuskit, a play for children. In the galleries you can come across Dream Scientist, a hilarious duo who investigate the mysteries of dreams, and you may even meet Mr Clutterbuck, everyone's favourite sleepwalker.

The activities and performances can be enjoyed in the two museum buildings on Saturday and Sunday from 11–17. The festival programme includes adventures with strange creatures in a magical forest of dreams, moonlight rides in a garden at night, and a machine that whispers funny dreams! In the art workshops you can engage with dream stuff, build creative lanterns for bedtime stories, and make a soft dreamhead creature. And if you bring your own sleep toy to the festival, you can lull it into sleep with a snack and a lullaby.

If the pyjama party gets a bit too hectic, there is always Slumberland, a sensory-friendly space where children can lull their adults into sleep. The space has earmuffs you can use to relax completely.

Mark the weekend in your calendar, dress the whole family in their pyjamas and join the Children’s Museum Festival party!

Detailed programme and schedule of the festival will be updated during February at www.lastenmuseofestarit.fi(external link, opens in a new window)
