New webpages for international expert visitors

Our city’s services and operations are of interest worldwide.

The diversity of Finnish public services and the expertise found in Espoo attract interest around the world. The City of Espoo receives several visit requests every year in relation to various themes, such as education, sustainable development and innovation activities.

Visitors are often experts and already familiar with the topic in question. Thus, our experts also have an opportunity to learn about the visitors’ expertise and the good practices used in their countries. Many of the city units welcome visitors.

“In the autumn of 2023, our construction, planning and land use experts exchanged knowledge and good practices in sustainable construction and land use development with key officials from major South Korean cities. The visit offered our experts a point of reference as well as new ideas and information. It was a pleasure to tell the visitors about our pioneering work and high-level expertise. We all learned from each other,” says Development Manager Tiina Järvinen.

The new webpages were developed to serve visitors and the city’s strategic development even better.

“The pages include a brief description of each theme as well as contact details. We also simplified the process for booking visits. In the future, potential visitors can be referred to these pages,” says Hanna Eskelinen, Coordinator of International Affairs.

In addition to city services, we offer our visitors an opportunity to learn more about the work done at local schools, research institutes and business accelerators and about recreational activities in Espoo. This ensures that the visits benefit the entire Espoo community.

The new webpages will be available in Finnish and Swedish in early 2024. International visits are mainly carried out in English.
