Espoo's Growth and Learning Sector will attend the Educa fair in Helsinki on 26 and 27 January 2024. Educa is Finland's largest teaching education event, with a varied and interesting programme and a wide range of exhibitors.

Come and talk with us about what it is like to work at the City of Espoo and what kind of opportunities we offer for employees in early childhood education, basic education and general upper secondary education. A representative from Espoon Asunnot will also be present at the stand to provide information on how the city can help someone moving to Espoo to find accommodation.

We work closely together throughout the city organisation, which is why our stand is attended on both days by a representative of the Espoo libraries who teaches fairy tale coding on Friday from 13:00 to 15:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00. Espoo is a pioneer city in technology and innovation, which is evident in the daily lives and learning paths of our children and young people. We work closely with libraries because here in Espoo, we invest in the literacy of children from early childhood education onwards.

Virpi Mattila, Director of Early Childhood Education at the City of Espoo, will give take part in the panel discussion Laadukas varhaiskasvatus kaikille (“High-quality early childhood education for all”) in the Tahto hall from 10:55 to 11:35 on Saturday 27 January.

In Espoo, we support each child according to their strengths and abilities, and we look for natural ways for each child and young person to develop and learn through interaction with others. In particular, we are responding to growing welfare challenges and ensuring that welfare disparities such as child poverty are not allowed to grow.

Let’s work together to create a successful and uninterrupted path of growth and learning

At our stand, we will provide more information about topics such as early childhood education pedagogy, See the Good activities, early childhood education on the move and how children are supported in Espoo. The diverse use of digital pedagogy is also a speciality of Espoo – come and see and hear what this means in practice. We also have an extensive programme about mentoring and training early childhood education employees.

You can ask the education experts about the functioning of basic education and upper secondary schools, sustainable development activities in these schools, the development of education and cooperation between different stakeholders. Teaching is supported by initiatives such as See the Good!, Vahvuusvaris and Someturva that help both students and staff.

For example, experts in upper secondary education will explain how cultural instructors who have just started at upper secondary schools can help young people from an immigrant background to succeed in upper secondary school and on their learning path.
