The Independence Day celebration for the sixth graders of the city of Espoo took place on Monday, December 4th, at the Opinmäki campus. During the celebration, organized in collaboration with the Finnish Defense Forces Conscript Band, we witnessed joyful encounters, fantastic styles, listened to festive speeches and greetings, and danced, sang, and raised a toast to independent Finland.

Spiro, Aapo, Adele and Eevi are pupils from Sunan koulu.

During the day, approximately 4 000 students and teachers celebrated the Independence Day in Opinmäki. The students of Sunan koulu, Spiro, Aapo, Adele and Eevi, enjoyed the festive atmosphere and praised the ambiance of the celebration.

"What stood out the most were the dances and the fact that there was enjoyable music," the students say. When asked about what is best in Espoo, Aapo responds:

"The best things in Espoo are the schools and sports fields."

Ava, Hilla, Helena ja Matilda are students from Karamalmens skola.

Liv, Hilla, Helena, and Matilda from Karamalmens skola share that they practiced the kikapo and waltz in the school's gymnasium, went through the program of the celebration in advance, and planned their outfits for the occasion. The students feel that the atmosphere at the celebration is very good, but there is also a bit of excitement in the air.

"It's quite exciting with so many people you don't know, and a little nervous when it comes to dancing."

The students don't have a specific thing they are most looking forward to during the celebration.

"Everything will surely be a lot of fun!" they say cheerfully."
