New routes on Itätuulenkuja in Tapiola

On Friday 15 December, new routes were opened on Itätuulenkuja in Tapiola. New access bridges have now been installed along the southern edge of Itätuulenkuja, providing a pedestrian route at the deck level from the south to the metro station, bus terminal and Ainoa shopping centre. For the time being, the only way to cross Itätuulenkuja is to use the western wooden bridge leading to Sammonsilta. There are no stairs along these routes. The other pedestrian routes in the area will remain unchanged.

The building of the other wooden bridge across Itätuulenkuja has been delayed due to the bankruptcies of the bridge supplier and the material supplier. However, the city aims to have the other wooden bridge close to Helmakuja available in February.

The city closed the temporary bridges in the area due to the accident on 11 May. A decision was made to dismantle the temporary scaffolding bridges during the summer and replace them with new temporary routes.
