New Helmet online library opened for test use – test the service and give us feedback!

The Helmet online library is currently being renewed. We have now opened the new Helmet online library for test use at helmet.finna.fi(external link, opens in a new window). We kindly ask that you check out the new service and give us feedback by using this form(external link, opens in a new window).    

We cannot respond to individual questions but we will take user feedback into account where possible in the development of the new website. If you have any other questions related to the library service, please use the Helmet feedback form at www.helmet.fi/feedback(external link, opens in a new window). 

The current Helmet.fi and the new Helmet online library will be in operation side by side for some months, meaning that you can still use the current Helmet.fi as usual. The new Helmet online library can be tested in Finnish, Swedish and English. 

You can log in to your account in the new Helmet online library as usual with your library card number and PIN code. You can also search for materials and browse other contents without logging in. 

When you log in to helmet.finna.fi(external link, opens in a new window) for the first time, an account will be formed for you and your library card will be connected to your user account in the new Helmet online library.

Some functions and their names will be slightly different in the new Helmet online library from their versions in the current Helmet.fi system. For example, ‘My account’ will be called ‘Your account’ and ‘New in Helmet’ will be called ‘Alert schedule’ in the future. Locking a reservation will be called ‘freezing’ it in the new Helmet online library. 

The contents of the old and new Helmet online libraries will be slightly different. For example, not all old articles and bulletins will be transferred to the new system. Some contents are still missing at this point.

Some functions will be removed entirely from the new Helmet online library, such as ‘My lists’. You can create lists with a ‘Favourites’ function in the new system. You can find more detailed information about the changes in this article.(external link, opens in a new window)

• Events have not yet been transferred to the new online library. For the time being, you can find all events of Helmet libraries in the current Helmet.fi service at www.helmet.fi.
• The interlibrary service and acquisition request forms are not ready yet. Please submit any interlibrary service or acquisition requests via the current Helmet.fi system.
• The search menu of the services is being worked on.
• Online payment is not yet in use on the beta website. You can pay your library fees in the old Helmet.fi system at www.helmet.fi/payonline.
• There are still deficiencies in the non-Finnish-language versions.
