Spotlight on acts that promote equality and non-discrimination
We would like to hear about acts that promote equality and non-discrimination in Espoo. The TASSU prize recognises everyday heroes and acts, big or small, that have had a positive impact on our community.
The theme for 2023, ‘everyday acts of equality’, focuses on actions that do not necessarily gain much publicity. Nominated acts can be carried out, for example, by work communities, associations, organisations or clubs and can involve work with minorities, increasing diversity awareness or changing values and attitudes.
To enter the competition, you have to answer the following questions:
- Describe the act: What have you or your organisation done to promote equality and non-discrimination in Espoo? (max. 200 characters)
- Significance of the act: How does the act promote equality and non-discrimination? (max. 400 characters)
- Insights: Tell us about your insights or a specific moment when your view of the world and people changed. (max. 400 characters)
- Feedback: Describe the impact of the act. (max. 400 characters)
- How could the act be applied elsewhere? What can others learn from the act? (max. 400 characters)
You can answer the questions in Finnish, Swedish or English. The competition is open to all Espoo-based communities and city employees. By entering, you can win EUR 1,000, which is intended for the promotion of equality and non-discrimination.
Promoting equality and non-discrimination is part of the city’s comprehensive sustainability work. These themes particularly relate to social sustainability and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals number 5 Gender equality and number 10 Reducing inequalities.
You can submit your entry between 3 and 31 October. The winners will be announced on Human Rights Day, 10 December.
