Senioripaku offered seniors enjoyable social activities

Espoo’s Senioripaku made its 41st and last stop of the season at the end of September. During the season, which started in early May, Senioripaku toured Espoo from north to south and everywhere in between.
Close to a thousand seniors visited the van. At the stops, seniors were able to engage in enjoyable social interaction and meaningful discussions and take part in fun activities. Old friends were met and new ones made.
Senioripaku’s activities were organised in cooperation between sports and cultural services, the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services Countý, organisations and volunteers. During the winter and spring, five workshops were held in cooperation with local pensioners’ organisations and local heritage associations. In these workshops, seniors were able to express their wishes regarding Senioripaku’s activities and stops, and they were encouraged to get involved in creating the activities. The ideas collected were used to develop and organise the activities.
The Senioripaku activities would not have been possible without all the operators and artists who got involved. At the stops, people enjoyed music and dance, heard interesting stories about Espoo and its history, admired circus performances, and sang together to the tunes of the accordion.
Senioripaku received a lot of positive feedback from participants.
“This takes me back to my childhood!”
“It’s so wonderful that you bring all these activities to our remote area.”
“I wish we had these kinds of activities here regularly.”
Senioripaku is part of the Healthy Espoo programme.
