On Monday 2 October, a new temporary wooden bridge was opened to the public in Tapiola. The bridge was built as an extension to Sammonsilta across Itätuulenkuja. Pedestrians can now use the bridge to get from the Ainoa shopping centre via Sammonsilta towards Omnia and Revontulentie.

The old scaffolding routes along the southern edge of Itätuulenkuja have been dismantled and replaced by a new covered access route, which is connected to the wooden bridge on the Itätuulenkuja side. The remaining scaffolding routes along Itätuulenkuja, which provide access to residential buildings and commercial premises on Itätuulenkuja, will be replaced later this year.

The newly opened wooden bridge replaces the dismantled scaffolding bridge that led from Merituulentori to the Omnia building on the southern side of Itätuulenkuja.

The aim is to open, later this year, a second footbridge that crosses Itätuulenkuja where the Tuulimäki street is located. It would provide a direct and accessible route from the direction of Revontulentie to Ainoa.

In September, a temporary route running from the southern end of Tuulikinsilta to Itätuulenkuja was introduced. Stairs have been built from Tuulikinsilta to the street level, and there is a route around the construction site to Itätuulenkuja. This route replaced the dismantled scaffolding bridge that led from Tuulikinsilta to Itätuulenkuja and Helmakuja.

The city closed the temporary bridges in the area due to the accident on 11 May. A decision was made to dismantle the temporary scaffolding bridges during the summer and replace them with new temporary routes.

The map shows the new temporary routes in Tapiola. The extension to Sammonsilta, opened to the public on 2 October, is a new route. The other routes shown on the map have already been in use.
