Children’s Cultural Centre Aurora marks 20th anniversary with art festival in November

Espoo’s own children’s culture centre celebrates 20 years of operation this autumn through participatory artworks and events highlighting children’s creativity.

Visual and audio artworks created during the autumn are compiled into a great free art festival to be held on Saturday 25 November.

The twenty years of the Children’s Cultural Centre Aurora have included countless art experiences and hours of joy. This autumn, art clubs, workshops, performances and major events have once again brought together children of all ages in fun-filled art encounters. The core of the activities is children’s own creative art-making, leading to the autumn’s theme of “20 years of art action.” At the same time, the cultural centre offers diverse opportunities to see and hear high-quality children’s culture performances.

The art festival on Saturday, 25 November from 15.00 to 19.00 offers indoor and outdoor exhibitions of art made by children. The gallery hosts a new art exhibition Kaikkien aikojen taidenäyttely (“Art Exhibition Across Time)”, to which both adults and children have been able to contribute their childhood works. The outdoor stage will host a performance by the birthday clown Lilli Pii, as well as a first performance of rap lyrics created by children during the autumn, interpreted by MC Rauhatäti featuring Hassan Maikal himself. Visitors can also enjoy creating art in the festival’s special workshops. The Meijeri café will give the first 400 visitors a free birthday cupcake, and the beautiful area will be lit up festively in the darkening evening.
