Espoo offers a planning reservation for a fire station plot in Niittykumpu
The City of Espoo is offering a planning reservation for the implementation of a detailed plan amendment on a fire station plot in Niittykumpu. The two-phase application procedure is open to all.
The aim of the application process is to find an operator to carry out commercial operations in the old fire station building. The building is protected and therefore cannot be demolished. The building also requires renovation.
Fire station activities on the plot will end during the autumn of 2023 and move to the new Matinkylä fire station once it is completed.
The Niittykumpu fire station is located at Niittyportti 1, close to the Niitty shopping centre and the metro station. The aim is to enable the development of the area around the Niittykumpu metro station and along Merituulentie into a centre-like area with homes and services. The range of services available in the area will also be increased.
The recipient of the planning reservation will conclude a preliminary agreement with the city on the purchase of the old fire station building located on the plot. During the planning reservation, the recipient is obliged to apply for a plan amendment for the plot, making it possible to use the fire station building for the project in question.
Once the detailed plan has been confirmed and the permits needed for the operations have been obtained, the old fire station building will be sold to the recipient of the planning reservation. At the same time, the plot will be leased out to the recipient. The recipient can buy the plot during the period of lease.
The decision on granting the planning reservation will be made by the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the City Board.
The application period is 28 September 2023–11 January 2024. Further information on the site and the application procedure is available on the espoo.fi website.
