How is the promotion of the integration of Ukrainian children and young people progressing?

Children and young people arriving in Finland from Ukraine participate in early childhood education, basic education or upper secondary education depending on their age. The number of Ukrainians is highest in basic education, where their education path begins with preparatory education, as part of which they are provided with a personal curriculum. The process is the same as with other immigrant children and young people who participate in preparatory education.
Some Ukrainian children and young people are currently studying remotely in accordance with the Ukrainian curriculum, which means that they are not participating in Finnish basic education. To promote Finnish-language learning and integration, the City of Espoo recommends that immigrant children and young people participate in Finnish-language basic education or upper secondary education.
Based on over a year of accumulated experience, it can be stated that the promotion of the integration of children and young people participating in preparatory education has progressed well.
