The quality of swimming water in Siikajärvi beach is good and there is no need to avoid bathing anymore

Environmental Health Services has been investigating a possible link between stomach flu outbreak and Siikajärvi beach. A sample from the swimming water was taken on Thursday 22nd of June. The quality of swimming water is good and there is no need to avoid bathing anymore.

The sample taken on Thursday did not contain any bacteria indicative of fecal contamination and the water quality is good. It is possible that the contamination was local and transient. Epidemics spread on beaches, especially when the beach is crowded and swimmers stay in the water for long periods of time.
