European Parliament President Roberta Metsola met leaders of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa

Yesterday, 9 March, leaders from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area met with Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, at Helsinki City Hall. One of the topics discussed was the Generators of Hope campaign of the European Parliament and the Eurocities network: thanks to donations made in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area early in the year, nearly 120 generators, heaters and other devices will be delivered to Ukraine.

President Metsola thanked Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa for their participation in the Generators of Hope campaign.

“I would like to warmly thank the people of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa who have participated in the Generators of Hope collection and helped bring light, heating and clean water to Ukrainian hospitals, schools & homes. Together with the Eurocities network, the campaign and our support for Ukraine will continue,” said Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament.

In addition to Metsola, the meeting was attended by Antti Timonen, Deputy Spokesperson of the President, and Jarmo Oikarinen, Head of European Parliament Office in Finland.

Due to the business trip of Mayor Juhana Vartiainen, Helsinki was represented by Deputy Mayor Daniel Sazonov together with Fatim Diarra, Chair of the City Council. Espoo was represented by Henrik Vuornos, Chair of the City Board, and Vantaa was represented Sari Multala, Chair of the City Board.
