A total of 1,721 pupils transferring to 7th grade were assigned local schools on 6 April 2022 in Espoo.

Local schools were assigned taking into account the continuation of the pupils’ foreign language studies within the pupil catchment area. Local schools were first assigned to pupils whose choice of school was affected by health or other compelling reasons. After this, local schools were assigned to pupils who had a sibling attending school in the same area. Other pupils were assigned local schools based on the distance between their home and school, taking into account all the pupils transferring to 7th grade living in the pupil catchment area and their distance to school. Pupils’ preferences were also taken into account insofar as possible.

Pupils who are studying at a combined primary and lower secondary education school will continue on to 7th grade at their current school in accordance with previously issued decisions.

The local school assignment principles decided by the Growth and Learning Board are available in full on this page.
