Industrial action in the municipal sector affects early childhood education
The industrial action in the municipal sector continues and also affects early childhood education. The main negotiation organisations for municipal sector employees, JUKO and JAU (JHL and Jyty), have announced an extension of the ban on overtime and shift swaps. This ban will take place from 4 April to 10 April 2022.
Our aim is to organise early childhood education services as normally as possible despite the ban. The ban on overtime and shift swaps may, however, result in staff shortages in some situations. Day care staff may, for example, ask guardians if they are able to pick up their children earlier. Our early childhood education units will inform guardians of these situations separately.
In addition to the ban on overtime and shift swaps, the main negotiation organisations have announced a strike threat in ten municipalities. In Espoo and the rest of the capital region, a strike warning has been given for the period from 19 April to 25 April 2022. We will provide information on the impacts of a possible strike on early childhood education later as necessary.
