Restrictions on public events to be lifted – more places available for our events

The Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland (AVI) has decided that the current restrictions on public events will be lifted as of Monday 14 February. However, activities must be organised in such a way that the risk of infection caused by close contact between participants and groups can be prevented.
Culture: Libraries and museums are open; more tickets available for events
- More tickets will become available for cultural events. The city’s cultural venues (Sello Hall, Cultural Centre, Kannusali, Children’s Cultural Centre Aurora, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, Vindängen) and the City Orchestra Tapiola Sinfonietta(external link, opens in a new window) provide up-to-date information on their websites.
- Libraries and museums are open. However, arrangements will be made on the premises to prevent the risk of infection caused by close contact between participants and groups.
- Since the beginning of February, a Covid passport has not been required at the City of Espoo’s public events, cultural venues or museums. The situation will be re-assessed after the national Covid passport guidelines have been specified.
Sports: Swimming pools and indoor sports facilities are open
- Swimming pools and indoor sports facilities are open as usual. Facilities continue to comply with current health and safety guidelines. A Covid passport is not required for entry.
- Guided exercise courses and open groups for working-age people, seniors and special groups have started. You can find the schedules for the groups and courses at espoo.fi/ohjattuliikunta (in Finnish).
- Public events, such as matches and competitions, can be organised without audience restrictions as of 14 February. However, activities must be organised in such a way that the risk of infection caused by close contact between participants and groups can be prevented.
Recreational activities for people of all ages allowed
- Since the beginning of February, recreational activities for people of all ages have been allowed. All recreational activities must comply with current health and safety guidelines.
