In its last meeting for the year, the Committee made a decision, among other matters, to award the annual grant for professional artists to actor Timo Torikka.

Annual cultural grants awarded to professional art and culture organisations, culture and local heritage associations and institutions providing basic education in arts operating in Espoo

The Culture Committee decided to award annual cultural grants for 2022 to professional art and culture organisations, culture and local heritage associations and institutions providing basic education in arts operating in Espoo. In total, €10,718,452 of annual grants and other grants will be awarded to professional art and culture organisations, €254,000 to culture associations, €64,300 to local heritage associations, and €4,471,796 to institutions providing basic education in arts.

Working grant for professional artists

The Culture Committee decided to grant the working grant for 2022 to actor Timo Torikka.

The working grant for professional artists is provided through applications to one Espoo-based professional artist at a time for one year. Espoo-based professional artists can apply for the grant, regardless of their art form.

Claim for rectification, closing of Soukka Library

The Culture Committee rejected the claim for rectification regarding Section 57 of the Committee’s decision made on 26 October 2021 about closing down Soukka Library. The grounds for rejection are detailed in the explanatory statement. The Culture Committee also rejected the claim for interrupting the implementation.

Assessing the advance impact of closing down the local libraries in Laajalahti and Soukka

The Culture Committee took note of assessing the advance impact of closing down the local libraries in Laajalahti and Soukka.

The City of Espoo’s statement on the proposal for the funding of national art institutions

The Culture Committee took note of the statement provided on the proposal for the funding of national art institutions. The statement indicates that the City of Espoo is in favour of the legislative proposal.
