Suurpelto – a unique garden city

Suurpelto is a unique park city in the middle of Espoo with great connections to other parts of Espoo, Helsinki, and the airport.

Currently, Suurpelto has more than 8,000 inhabitants, and the number is estimated to grow to at least 15,000 by 2050. Suurpelto is being developed into an architecturally cohesive area in line with the principles of sustainable development. A total of one million gross square metres of floor area will be built in the area by 2050.

The Helsinki Central Railway Station can be reached by public transport in about 40 minutes. Two of Espoo’s urban centres, Matinkylä and Leppävaara, are only a 10-minute bus ride away. The trunk bus route 520 runs from Matinkylä to Leppävaara via Suurpelto. In the future, Suurpelto may also be accessible by rail if the light rail line from Matinkylä to Leppävaara via Suurpelto starts operating. It takes 22 minutes to reach Helsinki Airport by car.
