Kera Development Commitment

Espoo aims to be carbon neutral by 2030, and the Kera region plays a big role in achieving this goal. In August 2021, the City Council unanimously approved Kera's development commitment, which guides developers in Kera to implement sustainable development goals in the long term.

The development commitment guides developers in Kera to close cooperation, towards a goal of being a pioneering area of sustainable development, circular economy and digitalization. Innovative and forerunning solutions can be seen, for example, in resource-wise construction, low-emission energy solutions, and new types of digital services and applications.

In practice, Kera's area development commitment guides the land use of Kera's center and the development of services in the direction of the goals listed below:

  • Kera is developed in close cooperation
  • Kera is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030 with low-emission and carbon-binding solutions
  • At Kera, significant circular economy solutions are created
  • As a sustainable district, Kera is a national and international reference destination

The goals of the commitment have been defined in extensive cooperation with local operators and stakeholders, and it has been signed by the City of Espoo and the area's landowners.
