Participatory budgeting pilot in Suurpelto 2024
In 2024, a participatory budgeting pilot will be carried out in Suurpelto in which a panel of local residents will choose an improvement to be implemented in Suurpelto’s public areas, i.e. street or park areas covered by a detailed plan.
A sum of EUR 25,000 has been earmarked for the improvement. The improvement must be an investment, i.e. an acquisition or a construction project with an expected service life of at least 10 years and a cost estimate of EUR 10,000–25,000, including material and construction costs. The improvement must be such that it can be implemented in a street or park area without altering their administrative plans (street or park plan) and without unnecessarily disturbing local residents.
A panel of around 10 residents, representing the diversity of the population, will be formed. The panel will meet 2–3 times in the spring and early summer of 2024. Meetings will primarily take place at Opinmäki in the evening, but some meetings may take place outdoors in Suurpelto. The panel will be informed of the exact dates of the meetings later.
Panel members must live in the Suurpelto area (subdistrict 332 – Suurpelto) and be aged 16 or over. All those who apply to join the residents’ panel will be notified of the selection by 15 April 2024.
Examples of possible improvements:
- Exercise equipment (one or several)
- Visual improvement of a square or roundabout
- Sports court or related accessories
- Small bridge
- Communal barbecue site
- Benches, tables
- Planter boxes
- Plants (perennial)
You can suggest improvements or apply to join the residents’ panel between 21 March and 11 April 2024.
