Nature-wise Espoo in 2035

Nature will continue to be an essential part of Espoo in the future. It is present throughout the city, forming a network through which plant and animal species can move and reproduce. Us humans take care of nature together and enjoy the recreation and well-being it provides.

The goals of the Nature-wise Espoo Roadmap describe the target situation in 2035. They guide the city’s activities and help identify ways in which we can work together to preserve our valuable local nature, also for future generations. To reach these goals, the city, residents, communities and companies need to work together.

A network of green and blue

The ecological network is functional and coherent

The core nature areas in Espoo and the green corridors connecting them make up a functional ecological network through which animals, plants and other organisms can move around and spread. The network will be improved by active measures to preserve and strengthen biodiversity, also in a changing urban environment.
