Klimatkvartetten | Iso Omena Library
Get ready for winter hibernation in a concert that brings together music and conversation!
Klimatkvartetten will visit libraries across the Helsinki Metropolitan Area together with meteorologist and non-fiction writer Kerttu Kotakorpi during the darkest part of November, when nature enters its seasonal period of rest. The programme features a musical dialogue between works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Anna Thorvaldsdottir, as well as a miniature composed for Klimatkvartetten by Aulis Sallinen. Kerttu Kotakorpi’s spoken contributions add a moving and thought-provoking perspective by bringing knowledge about the state of nature and the climate into the conversation.
The concert is part of Klimatkvartetten’s concert series, where classical music meets climate science and nature conservation. Through bold interdisciplinary collaborations, the trio turns its concerts into meeting places for art, research and environmental action. The core trio, consisting of violinist Terhi Paldanius, violist Ulla Knuuttila and cellist Joanna Hanhikoski, is joined by a rotating fourth member who may be, for example, a climate researcher, composer, writer or musician. Each concert explores the relationship between humans and nature from a unique perspective and aims to inspire reflection, encourage environmental action and create meaningful experiences.
