Swimming instruction tips and guidance for children who cannot swim.

Prerequisites: The child must be able to participate in a group under the guidance of a swimming instructor and be willing to enter the pool without a parent or guardian.

The child is the responsibility of the accompanying adult in the changing rooms and shower facilities and must be escorted to the pool. Swimming instructors will meet the children at the pool and are responsible for instruction and pool safety. At all other times, the child remains the responsibility of the guardian.

Swimming instruction is free of charge.

In schoolchildren’s autumn holiday week, Espoo swimming pools will have free admission for 7–17-year-olds on weekdays between Monday 12 October and Friday 16 October 2026.

If the guardian has paid the swimming pool admission fee, they may go swimming during the lesson. Otherwise, guardians are asked to leave the pool area.

Objectives: To improve the child's readiness for learning to swim and to provide tips for swimming practice. Instruction takes place in the teaching pool. Each session lasts 30 minutes, and registration is required separately for each group.
