I am a self-taught photographer from Helsinki, Finland, and my primary focus is nature photography. What I enjoy most about macro photography is the way it compels us to slow down and notice things that are otherwise easily overlooked in everyday life. Through close-up photography, the ordinary is transformed into something extraordinary for those who take the time to look closely enough.

In my series 'Herkkänä selvinneet', I have focused on photographing subjects that are commonly perceived as delicate. Sensitivity is often associated with fragility, with something easily broken. Through my images, I wanted to highlight how things that appear vulnerable can in fact endure remarkably harsh and changing conditions. Delicate leaves and conifer needles support burdens heavier than themselves, frost encloses a tender flower in its icy armor, and yet these fragile beings survive from one season to the next.

Perhaps sensitivity is not fragility after all, but a quiet strength that withstands the fiercest storms and deepest frosts, and still finds the courage, time and again, to reach for the light.

The route to the main entrance

The 10 accessible parking spaces are located in a parking hall over 10 m from the entrance. The width of the parking spaces is at least 3.6 m.
The parking hall has a lift, which can hold a wheelchair; the door opens automatically. The floor numbers in the lift can be felt with fingers. The button for the exit floor stands out from the other buttons. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.

The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly and the glass doors have contrast markings. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with a motion sensor.
