What happens when familiar things are cast in a new light and brought into a new conversation? Salainen Valo is a captivating collaborative exhibition by two artists, born from an encounter, a fresh perspective and a visual dialogue.

In this exhibition the works of Sari Penttilä meet the world of Johanna Susiviita. Their art intertwines, creating a subtle play of light and shadow within the space. The displayed works do not merely complement one another ; they challenge the viewer to discover moods , secrets and insights hidden beneath the surface. It is a light that does not blind, but guides, coming alive in the encounter between artists and the viewer.

"I am an amateur artist whose passion for painting and art more broadly is fueled by my curious mindset, willingness to experiment, and childlike interest in many things. Without any predetermined plans for paintings, the process and outcome always surprise me. The paintings come to life almost by themselves, wild and free. Even when imperfect, they are perfect, just like people.

The paintings are born out of intuition, which is like a 'secret light' — an invisible force, an inner atmosphere, and a delicate spark that lives in all of us and in nature. They are created from the pure joy of making, drawing inspiration from the moment’s intuition, from the experiences of my life, meditative breath, and emotional states.

The paintings were created while I was quiet, and so they can now continue to speak to you themselves. What do you see in them? What does it stir within you? Can you find your own secret light?"

"I am an artist whose work is guided by strong intuition and the inspiration of the moment. I don't plan my pieces in advance; instead, I let the brush, colors and ideas take the lead. For me, the painting process is a journey of discovery where the final result is often a great surprise.

The works featured in this exhibition are a playful exploration of intuition, colors and shapes. They combine the ruggedness of life, the tension between light and shadow and moments that deserved to be captured on the canvas. Layer by layer, stories emerge, bringing together strong contrasts and the mysticism of nature.

Because my artwork is born from a pure stream of consciousness, I hope it leaves room for the viewer's own interpretations , memories and imagination.
