Art Nouveau on display at Villa Rulludd.

Villa Museum Villa Rulludd tells the story of summer living and villa life in Espoo. The Kihlman family’s summer paradise is a fine example of early villa architecture in the archipelago and coastal areas of Uusimaa. Summer living spread to the archipelago in the 1860s with the rise of steamship traffic. Residents of Helsinki built and rented summer villas to enjoy a simpler life and connect with nature. The maritime atmosphere of past summers can still be felt at the museum.

On Sunday, 4 October 2026, objects in the Art Nouveau style will be specially displayed. Art Nouveau, known as Jugend in the Nordic countries, influenced art, design, and architecture around the turn of the 20th century. The style is characterized by beautiful decorative details in both objects and buildings.

The Villa Museum is open on the first Sunday of every month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
