Leppävaaran Budoseura (Lebudo) is happy to present our three budō disciplines: kendo, iaido, and jodo. During the demonstration, we will share the history of these arts and what training in our club is like. Our disciplines are suitable for everyone over 15 years old who is interested in traditional Japanese budō. There is no upper age limit!

Demonstrations are held at 14:00 and 15:30 in the cafeteria of Ruusutorppa school!

After each demonstration, we will hold a Q&A session where you can come ask our instructors more questions and try out the equipment.

Modern kendo is a contact sport practiced with protective gear and bamboo swords. It is a combat sport where you face an opponent. Training consists of solo and partner drills.

Iaido is a traditional Japanese budō discipline where you practice drawing and cutting with a sword in one motion. Iaido training consists of various kata (forms) and cutting exercises against an imaginary opponent.

Jodo, or the way of the stick, focuses on using a stick against a swordsman. The basics of jodo include 12 solo exercises, 12 partner exercises, and 12 kata (pre-arranged forms).

The next beginner courses start in September 2026.

Welcome!
