Film music comes to the Espoo Cultural Centre on Espoo Day. Pianist Risto-Matti Marin, soprano Meri Siirala, and violinist Linda Hedlund will perform music from films including Schindler's List, Star Wars, and Modern Times.
The concert will also feature Songs of Restless Blood (Levottoman veren lauluja), a song cycle composed by Juho Miettinen and directed by Isa Kortekangas. The texts are based on monologues by Regina Linnanheimo from films directed by Teuvo Tulio.
The woman at the center of the song cycle is living through the hectic years of family life and feels that her personal space, identity, and sense of agency have been buried beneath the pressures of everyday responsibilities. She escapes from reality into the cinematic world of Teuvo Tulio and Regina Linnanheimo. The woman in this work is truly on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
