Espoo Day at KAMU WeeGe on Saturday, August 29

On Espoo Day, you can play a city game at KAMU and listen to music with an Espoo theme. You can also explore youth and rock culture from the 1970s and 1980s at KAMU’s “Meteliä ja meininkiä” exhibition. Free entry on Espoo Day!

At 12 - 4 pm Have a go at the urban planning game!

Espoo City Planning Department participates in the Espoo day celebrations in KAMU WeeGee. You will find us in the KAMU WeeGee lobby, where you can play the City of the Future game with us.

At our stand, you will meet experts from the City Planning Department and can have a go at city planning yourself with the help of a game. In the game you will reflect on what kind of issues are solved when plans for the future of the city and who the city should be planned for are made.

At 1.00, 2.00 and 3.00 pm The Timo Pulkkinen Trio performs

Did you know that Runeberg wrote about Espoo? Come experience the atmospheric poem "Matkamiehen näky" (The Traveler's Vision) set to a new, moving composition by singer-songwriter Tomi Pulkkinen, set to the rhythm of romantic folk-soul! In addition, in honor of Espoo Day, we’ll hear about, among other things, the mysterious fools of Bemböle and the great philanthropist Aurora Karamzin.

Tomi Pulkkinen (vocals, composition and lyrics, harmonica, guitar, arrangement) once worked in a unique profession as Finland’s first monthly-salaried library troubadour for the City of Espoo, but today he is a freelance songwriter, performing artist, and author. The accompaniment is provided by veteran violin virtuoso Arto Nybom (violin, arrangement) and versatile drummer and percussionist Joel Jaakkola (drums, percussion, arrangement).

A warm welcome to an exhilarating, rhythmic journey into the magical world of music and poetry, carried on the wings of history!
