In his last decades, the beloved composer and musician Kaj Chydenius performed at hundreds of concerts with different singers. These concerts were called Laulustudio Kaj Chydenius. His sons, musicians Kalle and Jussi, have now decided to continue the tradition created by their father, who died in 2024. The concerts feature a selection of Chydenius' songs performed by a small ensemble. “Rather than creating some exciting new versions of the compositions, this time it was more important for me to specifically respect and maintain Kaj’s efforts to achieve performances that were as simplified and uncomplicated as possible,” says Kalle Chydenius.
The brothers' first set is called Syleily ('Embrace'). It premiered in the summer landscapes of their childhood, Mallusjoki in Orimattila, in January 2026. Jussi and Kalle have invited actress and singer Oona Airola, with whom Kaj worked for nearly 20 years, to join them. The ensemble also includes Risto Kupiainen (piano) and Sami Kuoppamäki (percussions).
