Additional information
vilmasinivaaraart.com(external link, opens in a new window)The main works of the art exhibition are life-size, doll-like sculptures created using a technique developed by the artist himself, primarily from recycled materials. The artist is fascinated by the “Uncanny Valley” phenomenon, which can be triggered by a work that closely resembles a real person.
Vilma Sinivaara (b. 1976) is an artist from Turku. In addition to illustration, she creates works inspired by faces, the human body, and various emotional states. She illustrated Tomi Norha’s children’s book Mömön seikkailut, published in January 2026. (ISBN 9789527644270) Developing new working methods and using recycled materials in her works are her trademarks. Her areas of expertise include, among other things, puppet art.
The exhibition can be seen during the library opening hours. Welcome!
