Additional information
espoo.fiWe can all do something for nature. Come and find what you can do in the exhibition at Nature House Villa Elfvik during 25 March – 7 June 2026.
We all need diverse nature to live and survive in a changing climate. Local nature is also a major source of wellbeing. This exhibition shows you what Espoo does to help and preserve nature. You can also find something you can do to help.
In an urban environment, home gardens are significant for preventing the loss of biodiversity. Meadows make it easier for pollinators to survive and deadwood creates a habitat for many species. Large trees benefit cities in a variety of ways. They make places more attractive and help to control storm water.
There is a functional model of a garden that you can study to see what a dream garden would be for not just people, but birds, insects and other organisms as well. You can also grab the Espoo’s Nature-wise Gardens brochure, which also includes instructions for participating in the summer 2026 garden contest.
The exhibition showcases environmental actions not only for your own garden, but for hikers along with other, more everyday choices. It was made for Nature House Villa Elfvik as part of the Enchanting Urban Nature 2020 theme year and has been updated with current information.
Elfvik is also hosting the following events
- Helping nature!– event for the whole family on Saturday, 25 April 2026 at 10–14. Enjoy the nature of spring and learn about helping nature in the garden. This event is a collaboration with Espoo-based associations.
- Composting Course on Sunday, 17 May at 13–15. Learn how to turn food waste into nutritious soil for your garden plants. This course is a collaboration with HSY.

Natur-wise Espoo
Let’s help the nature of Espoo together! We want to care for Espoo’s urban nature as the city grows. The roadmap for Nature-wise Espoo guides our work. For nature and Espoo residents to continue to feel well in the future, we need residents, communities and companies to join in.
