This concert is a musical journey through three cities – Vienna, Genoa, and Budapest – to places where European musical tradition has taken on different forms and tones. The cities live on in the music of their composers through moods, rhythms, and harmonies.
Fritz Kreisler's Vienna resounds with elegance and subtle nostalgia, like an echo from the salons and waltzes of a bygone era. Niccolò Paganini's Genoa glows with Italian melodiousness and virtuoso expression, where boldness and lightness go hand in hand. Béla Bartók's Budapest, on the other hand, pulsates with rhythm and earthy power: the roots of folk music and modern thinking are woven together into a unique soundscape.
Cousins Matti and Timo Fredriksson have been playing together for years. In this concert, their shared experience is evident in the natural dialogue between violin and piano, in their listening and shared breathing – a musical journey between cities, eras and composers' worlds.
