Asla Jo, one of the most compelling names in the Finnish indie music scene, released her debut album Papin tytär in early 2026. She describes her first full-length record as a painful ode to loneliness and an autofictional coming-of-age story. Nominated for the 2026 YleX Breakthrough Award, Asla Jo’s song Pussailen tyttöjen kaa won both Song of the Year at the Indie Awards and Queer Song of the Year at the Queer Gala.

With a rapidly growing and devoted fanbase and strong praise from music media, Asla Jo writes melancholic Finnish pop about sorrow, girlhood love, loneliness, and growing up. Signed to Kaiku Entertainment, the talented singer-songwriter plays with interpretations of the Finnish emotional landscape and her own lived experiences in her music. Originally from Ostrobothnia, she released her debut EP Kaikki alko siitä mihin me loputtiin in autumn 2024. Her spring 2025 single Pussailen tyttöjen kaa gained major traction on TikTok, receiving praise for its honest and sensitive lyrics and for bringing the pain points of queer youth into the spotlight. She has also built a reputation as an exceptionally present and captivating live performer. Last summer, she took over both Ruisrock and a sold-out Huvila Tent at the Helsinki Festival.
