Information and discussion session: Bergönranta

Welcome to the residents’ event to discuss detailed planning for Bergönranta!

We will hold an information and discussion event on January 20, 2026 from 18:00 to 20:00 at Vikingaborg, Suvisaarentie 8 B. The preparation of the local detailed plan for Bergönranta has begun at the request of the landowners in the area. The event will provide information on what detailed planning will mean from the perspective of, for example, construction, traffic arrangements, nature and the cultural environment.

The preparation of the plan is in its very early stages, so at the event we will collect the residents’ views and ideas to support planning. You will have a chance to discuss with Ossi Keränen, Town Planning Manager, and the other planners involved in the planning process.

What is the local detailed plan for Bergönranta about?

Previously, a partial master plan had been drawn up for the area, but it was repealed by an Administrative Court decision. In this event, we will explain how the legal effects of the local detailed plan differ from the legal effects of the repealed partial master plan. Such effects include plot division and traffic arrangements, recreational opportunities, possible land use agreements related to the plan, the obligation to organise municipal engineering and water supply generated by the local detailed plan, and the related right to expropriate public areas. A nature survey of the area has been carried out, of which we will provide more Information at the event.

During the planning process, we will organise several events for landowners. Our goal is to jointly seek the best possible solution for the area’s local detailed plan.

Vikingaborg

The Vikingaborg community building is located near the Suvisaari Bridge, on the mainland side. The Vikingaborg parking area can accommodate 30 cars. Cars can also be parked in the front yard. The parking area of the Hanikka fitness track is about 300 metres away. Bus 163K stops next to the building. The space has seating capacity for approximately 65 people.
